Eric Lefkofsky – Managing Director and CEO of Tempus

Eric Lefkofsky is an American philanthropist and a business entrepreneur. Lefkofsky is the Chief Executive Officer of Tempus, a technology company that has developed an operating system to fight cancer, and is also responsible for its establishment. Tempus has a machine learning platform that is interactive which assists physicians to administer personalized cancer care. Besides, Tempus also examines molecular and therapeutic data which enable medical practitioners to produce data-driven decisions in real-time.
Additionally, Eric Lefkofsky is also the co-founder and Chairman of five technology companies operating globally. These include Groupon, Uptake Technologies, Mediaocean, Echo Global Logistics, InnerWorkings, and Lightbank. Lightbank is a venture capital firm based in Chicago. Groupon is an e-commerce marketplace operating globally. Groupon provides consumers with an extensive marketplace of deals which are unbeatable worldwide.
Uptake Technologies serves a predictive analytics platform providing its services to the largest companies operating in the world. Mediaocean tops the list as the best supplier of integrated media procurement technology. On the other hand, Echo Global Logistics operates as an outsourcing firm for providing transportation and logistics which are technology-enabled. InnerWorkings is a company that provides managed print and promotional solutions worldwide.
As a philanthropist, Lefkofsky together with his wife founded the Lefkofsky Family Foundation, a charitable foundation operating privately in supporting charitable, educational, and scientific organizations, in 2006. The charitable trust provides high-impact initiatives aimed at enhancing lives of children in the communities being served. Till now, the foundation has funded over 50 organizations. Eric Lefkofsky joined a charitable foundation named The Giving Pledge In 2013, together with his wife.
Eric Lefkofsk is actively involved in bettering his community. He has shown this by serving as a Trustee of The Art Institute of Chicago, Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, and The Museum of Science and Industry. Other than being a board member, Mr. Lefkofsky is the co-chairperson of the Technology Council at the World Business Chicago. Lefkofsky joined the Chicago 2016 committee in May 2008, to bring in Chicago the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Additionally, Mr. Lefkofsky serves at Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre Company, a performing arts institution based in Chicago, as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He works at the University of Chicago as an assistant professor. Eric Lefkofsk is the author of Accelerated Disruption, a company that uses smart automation to get the best out of its clients. According to Forbes.com, Eric Lefkofsky was raised in Southfield, Michigan. In 1987, Eric Lefkofsk graduated from Southfield-Lathrup High School, after which he joined the University of Michigan in 1991, and managed to graduate with honors. In 1993, he received his Juris Doctor after attending the University of Michigan Law School.
